Outer Banks rentals

I was wondering if Outer Banks rentals is really a good place for family vacation. I have a friend in the US and she told me they will go for a vacation. She took a two week vacation from work. She said, they want to stay and rent a place beside the beach. I think outer bank is such a nice place to stay in. I wish, I could take a week vacation too maybe someday.
