The Eighth Wonder Of The World

The Rice Terraces of Banaue is also named as Payo, it has 2000-years old terraces that were fixed to the Ifugao mountains in the Philippines by descendants of the native people. These Rice Terraces generally referred to by all Filipinos as "Eighth Wonder of the World". It is usually believed that those terraces were constructed with minimal tools, mainly by hand.

The terraces exist and located approximately 5000 ft. beyond sea level that cover about 4000 square miles of slope. They are nourished by an earliest irrigation system from the rainforests exceeding the terraces. It is believed that whenever steps are being put end to an end, it could surround half of the globe.

Locals to up to this day are still planting rice and vegetables continuously on the terraces, even though more younger people of Ifugao cannot discover farming attractive, every so often choosing for the extra profitable hospitality industry produced by Rice Terraces. The outcome is the regular erosion of distinctive "steps” that must need continuous restoration and care.
